Product Info: Get That Hollywood Glow
By The Social | February 4, 2014
Beauty expert Brittany Gray of Fancy Face Inc. outlines her go-to products in order to achieve that dewy Hollywood Glow.
Step 1: Moisturizer
The Hollywood Glow always starts with proper hydration. Serums and moisturizers are a must.
Step 2: Primer
You want to use a primer that is “light optimizing”, which means the product has tiny light reflecting particles that bounce back light off of your face to provide radiance and prevent shadows.
Product: NARS Pro-Prime Light Optimizing Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 15 is my personal favourite.
Step 3: Foundation
Cream foundations are what you want to use to create the dewy look. Liquid foundations and powder foundations are too drying.
Products: L’Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Makeup or Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. Both are moisture rich.
Add a few drops of a liquid or cream highlighter like Benefit Girl Meets Pearl and mix into your foundation for extra illumination.
Step 4: Bronzer and highlighter
Use cream bronzers and highlighters as they melt naturally into your foundation. Contour with bronzer, and then move on to highlighter.
Products: For contouring, use NARS The Multiple in Palm Beach or Tom Ford Beauty, Shade & Illuminate. For highlighting, use NARS Illuminator in Copacabana (lighter complexions) and Sunbeam by Benefit (for darker complexions). To apply all of this, try Real Techniques brushes, available at Walmart.
Step 5: Blush
Cream blushes or cheek stains are amazing for creating that “lit from within” look.
Product: My favourite cheek stain is Flush by Tarte. Sarah Jessica Parker wore this throughout Sex and the City
Step 6: Translucent powder
You want to set everything with a translucent powder, focusing mainly on the T-Zone so that you don’t matte out all of the dewiness you just created.
Products: MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Powder or my personal favourite, Ben Nye Classic Translucent Face Powder.
Pro tip: If you have a long day/night ahead of you, go over each step with a powdered bronzer, highlighter and blush. This will give your makeup longevity so if the first layer wears away, you have a cream layer underneath.
Bronzer: You can really get away with using anything that matches the cream previously used. Just make sure that it’s not too shimmery, dark or orange. Tarte Waterproof Bronzer in Clay is nice, as well as MAC Powder Blush in Mocha.
Highlighter: I love NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross. JLo is known to wear this A LOT. Scott Barnes always puts it on her and it really gives her that “lit from within” look.
Blush: Just find a tone that works with the cream or stain you previously used.
Step 7: Lip gloss
Finally, add a luminous gloss to the lips to complete the Hollywood Glow.
Product: On top of any lipstick, apply NARS Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Gold Digger to add that beautiful sheen to the lips.
